Abbeyfield Bromley
VOLUNTEER AT ABBEYFIELD : IT MAY BE THE MOST SATISYING JOB YOU EVER DO!
The unique quality and range of services enjoyed by Abbeyfield residents and the very modest charges are possible only because volunteers freely give of their experience, skills and commitment. Volunteers occupy every post in the Executive and House committees, and are the Trustees legally responsible for the affairs of the Society. Volunteers contribute to the friendly family atmosphere of each house and organise the programme of social activities.
Abbeyfield volunteers bring a wealth of skill and experience gained in the home, the care or medical sectors, business and commerce, local government or legal professions. Their contribution and friendship make the essential difference to the welfare and happiness of Abbeyfield residents.
Our volunteers formulate the Society’s business plan; appoint and supervise housekeeping and other staff; commission and supervise maintenance and building works; handle the admissions process for new residents; liaise with the local authorities and develop strategies to plan for the Society’s future.
Some comments from Abbeyfield volunteers: "So many interesting residents, staff and volunteers; they make Abbeyfield so special" "It’s so satisfying, helping others- I enjoy it hugely" "Using my experience to further their happiness is really rewarding".
Abbeyfield residents could benefit from your skills and friendship. If you can spare a few hours weekly, we would like to hear from you. Visit our houses, talk to our residents and other volunteers: we think you’ll like Abbeyfield.
For an exploratory discussion, without commitment, please contact Peter Sheldon on 020 8650 2668. We look forward to hearing from you.
